
Hello, I am Kaustubh Naik. I am currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania’s South Asia Studies Department. My thesis looks at the histories of Portuguese colonialism in South Asia from the 18th-20th century. I am specifically interested in the administrative integration of Novas Conquistas into the Estado da Índia.
I run a Substack where I write around issue concerning Goa’s history, culture, and politics. I also write a weekly column for a Marathi daily, Gomantak. Some of my pieces have also featured on Scroll.in, The Caravan, The Satyashodhak etc.

I am also part of Hauns Sangeet Natya Mandal, a theatre company founded by my grandfather Vishwanath Naik.
