Hello, I am Kaustubh Naik. I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania’s South Asia Studies Department. In my doctoral research, I work on the histories of Portuguese colonialism in Southwestern India from the 18th-20th century. I am specifically interested in the histories of colonial institutions and how they order quotidian life. I am currently doing a semester abroad, studying Portuguese at Universidade de Lisboa.

I am one of the founding members of The Al-Zulaij Collective, a research collectives that writes on and from Goa. I am also part of Hauns Sangeet Natya Mandal, a theatre company founded by my grandfather Vishwanath Naik.
